Chelts i think the real issue is that some people DO have to take them because

You get your benefits stopped if you turn down a job which averages over a certain number of hours a week.

That's what i understand anyway but may be wrong. That would seem to me to be the problem - zero hours arrangements should be entered into voluntarily.

I do think people should lose their benefits if they turn down perfectly good job offers for no justifiable reasons but not if those jobs don;t have at least some minimum hours guarantee.
