Tokenism and once again shows how cyclists and pedestrians
are an after thought, where as they should be at the forefront of an integrated transport system. I don't know what it is with cycling/cyclists in this country but the bigotry I experience as a cyclist is amazing. The other day a bloke was complaining to me at cyclists wanting a cycle path near where he lived salted in the same way as the roads due to ice. The usual crap was trotted out "cyclists don't pay road tax" (nobody pays road tax anymore, we pay a green tax and if you drive a green car you pay very little tax AND of course the vast majority of cyclists own cars anyway). After I pointed this out he said that salt should be reserved for cars as the drivers had to get to work! Trust me he wasn't joking.
