I should point out that Copa America is not every 4 years either

its every 2-3 and that depends on other international tournamentes, which devalues the tournament automatically.
This year's Copa America will be followed by a special Copa America next year. Add that to the ridiculously easy draw for the hosts every time and you have what is usually a pretty dull tournament.

Eg. Chile will play at the national stadium regardless of whether they finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their group and will almost certainly face the worst remaining team at every stage
