Some airlines do courses (paid for, I presume) for nervous flyers.

As its their first time, I'd mention that at check in, get to the gate very early and mention it again, and try to wangle getting on board early.

If it's a decent airline, and the pilots are in a good mood, you might (might) get an opportunity for them to speak to your kids to re-assure them etc. May even get a name check on the tannoy? I don't know whether there's much chance of getting on the flight deck these days but when loading up the door is often open and if the pilots aren't too rushed with the pre-flight business they might be at least able to stand at the entrance with your kids and briefly explain what all the lights and buttons are.

The stewards/stweardesses may also be that little bit extra nice too.

All of this kind of thing depends on how nice the crews are on the day, but if you don't ask, you certainly don't get...
