The role model argument is nonsense to me. If we signed a rapist I would be able to ensure that my kids understood fully that what he had done was absolutely hideous and unacceptable - as a parent I would have no fears about that players influence over my kids.

Where I do have an issue to a degree would be the victim seeing her attacker on TV, in the papers, celebrating scoring and, seemingly enjoying life. Imagine if your daughter was his victim, you're watching the news in a year's time and the sports comes on with a big grinning photo of him celebrating a goal appears behind the presenter - must be awful. But that in itself isn't enough to stop him returning, for me.
