the shocking thing about it

was that the bbc news casually reported it making no remark upon the brutality of it and just casually commented that the chap was sent off. showed the clip and moved on as if nothing brutal happened at all. maybe they presume that everyone is so desensitised to violence nowadays it wasn't worth commenting upon and just ran with the score. "now, over to matt with the weather".
