Actually...

the reason cricket takes time is because you're building in the predicted trajectory of the ball onto the wicket after it's hit the batsman's pad. It's not a clear case of in or out, as in tennis, but what would have been the likely flight of the ball should it have gone on past the batsman.

Still, something wasn't right on the info reaching the commentators last night. I don't think it's as clear cut as it seems.
