Slightly irrelevant to this, but did he get it wrong?

Haven't seen footage, but from those pictures you posted, his arm was tucked in by his side, suggesting (a) it was accidental, and (b) he hadn't made any 'unnatural' movement of his arm to block the ball.

So by usual interpretations, not a pen, even though it did hit his arm?
