OK, but it isn't just about totals though

For instance if in 3 games you concede 7 in one game and keep two clean sheets you will nearly always get more points than if you concede two goals in each of those three games, even if in total the first scenario is worse.

It isn't how you defend in games that are already lost (like Saturday fairly early on), when goals are cheap and meaningless, that determines your fate, it's how you defend in tight games and we are generally pretty good at that.

Obviously nothing will save us if we can't score more goals - that is the issue we have, not the defence.
