And yes, the Middle East is absolutely f**ked up one way or another - in ways that comfortable westerners simply cannot grasp.

But I stand by the point that, even if it is for largely superficial reasons, the west do NOT want to be seen to wade in.

Cameron does not 'want a war on his cv' as if it some kind of Churchillian badge of honour.
