Keeping clean sheets wasn't a problem in terms of survival last year

and Villa seem quite safe right now despite their lack of clean sheets. They also have far worse defensive players than us (even than what we had last season) due to their reliance on academy players.

We've played like we did last season three times this season, vs Swansea away, vs WBA last week and today.

While that isn't enough evidence to suggest that Lambert's way would have definitely worked again over a whole season, there's certainly more evidence which suggests that it would have worked than it wouldn't have.

You also have to remember that Lambert had to make a complete overhaul at Villa who were on a downward spiral, whereas he had already spent three years building us into the side he wanted us to be. I highly doubt we would have gone backwards under him. Two full prem campaigns, two survivals for him, not bad!

Honestly I think Lambert would have taken us to a similar points tally as Hughton did, just with a better style of football.
