Hmm. Firefox has had big memory leak problems in the past, and script-heavy sites exacerba
the that. That would fit your at-work scenario: launch the browser, log in, everything's fine, then as you leave it alone all day it gobbles up more and more dead memory until you come to use it in the evening and it is kaput. However, that would usually degrade system performance across the PC since Firefox is hogging all the memory resource.
No idea about your at-home problem. Apart from to say that Win Vista is big smelly toilet.
