Yeah cramming onto the train we'd planned to get, forcing us onto the special that they

probably had non-transferable tickets for. We had open ones so it was still legal but we had to wait 20+ extra minutes to leave for the journey to then be 30+ minutes longer, with a pointless escort taking us up the road to the roundabout instead of use the flyover, eating a big chunk out of our pre-match time.

We then got onto the terrace early and down the front so that my 5'5" missus would get a decent view to then have that spoilt by all the pissed up old farts giving it the casual caricature like they've never grown up or drunk beer before. So we moved back to where she could see a bit. For it to then get really crammed near to kick off which was too much for her so we moved to the far top corner where the view improved a bit but we had to stand in front of where someone had taken a slash! Oh the joys of the terracing! The flare went off right next to us too; I didn't realise the smoke is virtually scentless which was a pleasant surprise. Didn't see any bog roll though.

We did enjoy a walk round the cathedral, the Xmas lights wrapped round the tree trunks and netting over the square and our first Wimpy meals since the 80s plus a lovely Oakham Winter Wraith spiced stout in The Brewery Tap afterwards. We'd thought we'd left it long enough to go home on a calmer train but our coach was full of pissed up singers. Got a seat both ways though so no bother.
