Just wondered where you'd be buying. Bit late for most deliveries (& you'd have to buy a

few. Waitrose, or the new place nearby (Harper & Wells) going to be best. Majestic have minimum buy of 6 bottles (although can be mixed). French Burgundy or Sancerre might be safest if you don't know his tastes. Some cracking white Rioja, Albarino, Italian, Alsace around - but may be more of an 'acquired taste'.
There's always Champagne too, if you count it.
