The thing is, many people are always going to use
Lambert's Norwich as the yardstick... guess it's natural after the level of success that he brought the club over three seasons.
However, his brand of football was not sustainable. Attacking flare at the expense of careless defending. We all recognised last year that the defence was going to need a radical overhaul if we wanted to be in the Premier League for the long-haul.
CH's Norwich has addressed the defensive issues for now, three league clean sheets out of four bears testament to that. Yes it's at the expense of attacking flare, but short-term pain is worth it for long-term gain. It is a complete rebuilding/remodelling job to make us a more solid unit. To achieve that, he's started at the back and is working his way forward... look at the calls to include Wes in the early games... he's addressing the midfield issues now, and will no doubt try and address the forward positions too... but most likely won't be able to do much till the transfer window is thrown open in January.
Win your home games, and draw your aways, and you're onto a good thing. Or more to the point for this season, if you've got more points than games played, you'll be just fine.
I was thrilled with our first away clean sheet in the Prem since 1994 on Satdee... it's another monkey off the back. The more Reading and QPR go on without a win, the more it weighs heavily on them.
We may not be playing pretty at the moment, but it is effective in helping us to achieve what is most crucial... being in the Premier League next season, and hopefully becoming an established side (like your Stokes and Wigans and Fulhams etc)
