Some teams have more money than others anyway - that makes all of football unethical
there's a huge difference between paying someone to win and someone to lose. If someone is trying to lose they are fixing the match because you can pretty much gurarantee it but trying to win is not fixing the match - it is what you are assumed to be trying to do anyway and since the opposition is playing to win too you are only getting - shock, horror - a proper competitive football match. Which is what we want (well, it's what I want)
