I use it for work it`s uphill all the way with a bit off off roading across a football pitch, nothing to extreme and but only about 3 miles.

pro`s lightweight, obviously not as light as a carbon frame but then it cost less than ?300.

Excellent brakes which I`ve had to use a few times to ovoid getting run down by white van man.

Cons: to many gears for my liking 18 in total when 10 would probably do the job for me.

From my limited experience I would only say don`t touch anything with rear suspension, it really isn`t needed
