Wireless charging isn't a new technology

It's been in toothbrushes for years. It's slower and uses more power than from a cable. It's also not very practical as it would require charging mats be installed everywhere or packing an extra bulky piece if kit when travelling.

NFC has yet to take off for payments and I doubt we'll see it used via mobile phones when it does. People will want to pay from their bank accounts and the banks won't want to give a percentage to the phone manufacturers so its most likely to be built into existing credit/debit cards.

I don't see NFC offering any major advantage over the latest Bluetooth standards for transferring data between devices.

NFC is quite interesting nerdy tech but when you look at the practical applications its a bit meh.

There's nothing particularly exciting about this latest iPhone but its also not really missing any must have features either. It's just a set of incremental updates.
