Froome will stay with Wiggins and work with him to get then both back to whoever has attacked.

That doesn't necessarily mean Froome is stronger. It just probably won't make sense for Wiggins to follow every attack - that's a recipe for getting knackered and losing loads of time.
Rather, Wiggins and Froome (and other Sky riders, if they're still there), may prefer to gradually work their way back to whoever has attacked.

That's a classic GC contendor tactic. Eddy Merckx was renowned for it. And Cadel Evans famously did it last year, after Andy Schleck attacked and got away. It won him the Tour .
