playoff season & promotion, were years in which we spent bucketloads of money by the standards of the division i.e. we bought it. He has ALWAYS been tactically useless but I will admit he at least was good at the motivation/morale side. Now he has lost that you are left with nothing. The guy does not understand modern football and how it has changed since his playing days. All he was interestee in last season was talking our prospects down and preparing excuses for himself (everyone else has more money etc). As Wigan and West Ham are showing if you concentrate on smart management and tactics and instilling belief in your players you can do well even without spending loads of money. This season has been beyond belief. He stated last week that he was playing Charlton in midfield because we have to have a holding midfielder and Jarrett/Hughes go forward too much. If that was the case why did he go into the season with only one such holding midfielder in his squad?? And why no we have NO proper wide midfielders at all in our squad? His total neglect of the most important area on the pitch is either moronic or professionally negligent.
