let's look at his supposed accomplishments:

1. we came top of a qualifying group ahead of Italy.
This is true but it was only because Italy f*cked up against crap teams. We only got 1 point from our two games against Italy.

2. we only got knocked out in teh first knockout game because of teh Beckham red card.
If we had beaten Argentina we would have had to get past Holland and then Brazil just to reach the final so we were already doomed. And why did we have such a sh*t draw? Because we came second in our group behind Romania. Because whejn we played and lost to Romania Hoddle favoured over-the-hill passenger Teddy Sheringham over the red-hot Michael Owen until it was too late.

Soory but I fail to see where Hoddle's mythical good reputation comes from, especially given the relative talent at his disposal.
