sorry to intrude but i wonder if you'd care to clarify something that has been bugging me

for quite a while now. when the recommendation is made to do a "smell up the usb" what does that mean?

is it;

a. the act of physically exuding a smell into [or up] the usb?

or

b. having a cheeky sniff in the usb area?

i hope i haven't been doing it wrong for all these years.
