The other point is this.

What this club's achieved over the last two and a half years has been extraordinary; phenomenal. But there's a rubicon which is still to be crossed, called "established Premier League side".

In terms of quality, we've not been the right side of that line since midway through 93/4. We were hanging on the following season, even during the first half of it; and the best we could've hoped for under Worthington would've been scrambled survival in 04/5, followed by relegation the following year.

At this point, because we palpably lack quality all over the park, we're still vulnerable - and it'll take 3 years of staying up until that completely changes. West Brom spent a decade yo-yoing; and only when Hodgson came in last season did they cross that rubicon: which is why both they and Fulham will finish above us.
