Question for parents

How much does it cost, roughly, to put a young 'un through driving lessons, and what, roughly, is the insurance after you've done it (assume reasonable competence ie sensible no of lessons; assume sensible first car like an old Fiesta or summat)? Just looking for a ballpark...
