worthy's signings (revisited)

re what I was saying below about Worthy building slightly unbalanced squads.

FUnnily enough you can see it in the signings, too. He's signed 24 players since he's been here. So given the composition of a team, you'd expect a couple of keepers, maybe 8/9 defenders, 8/9 midfielders and 4/5 strikers? something like that?

Whereas:

Keepers
Paul Crichton (?150,000),
Paul Gallacher (Free)
Darren Ward (Signed),

Defenders
Adam Drury (Signed)
Neil Emblen (?500,000)
Paul Heckingbottom (Free)
Keith Briggs (?65,000)
Jim Brennan (Free), -
Marc Edworthy (Free),
Simon Charlton (?250,000),
Thomas Helveg (Free), -
Gary Doherty (Signed),

MFs
Gary Holt (?100,000), -
Mark Rivers (?500,000),
Damien Francis (Signed),
Youssef Safri (?500,000),
Graham Stuart (Free) -

Strikers
Marc Libbra (?0), -
David Nielsen (?200,000) -
Leon McKenzie (?325,000), -
Mathias Svensson (Nominal), -
Darren Huckerby (?750,000), -
Mattias Jonson (Signed), -
Dean Ashton (?3,000,000), -

OK so it's hard to know quite what Neil Emblen was meant to be, so maybe I got that wrong. But nonetheless - he's not really that keen on midfielders, is he? Particularly not if he can buy a striker and play him there instead.
