Actually you've been a disappointment to me for years

Do finish the book if you find the time and the inclination, mind, it's the most rewarding read I've ever known.

I'm now trying to remember if it drags in the middle.....

Seriously, for me no other bok comes close. As you near the end you're dragged down into this ghastly low which you wonder will ever stop sinking - and then POW out of nowhere this fantastic triumph. First time I read it, in my late teens, I was euphoric for days.
