For whatever reason it might be, the teams I have coached which have a large number of differing backgrounds have one thing in common.
A FAR higher percentage of the black players than white players lift weights and spend time on the track 2 or more times a week in addition to the 2 or 3 nights at practice. In an amateur sport.
As to why that might be, I have my theories but no definitive answer. As to the result, well, it is evident.
The small number of white players who spend the same amount of effort are just as quick / strong as their black peers.
