Many of his choices didn't work out (for whatever reason) and used up his budget and can be seen as expensive flops.b Worthy pissed away money after relegation too; but mostly on bad buys (and by persuading the board not to invoke the relegation salary reduction clause).

I don't think the board has *not* backed any manager since D&M took over. Just that different managers have used different strategies in the transfer market. Whether they have spent wisely or not is another matter...
