lollers, you just reminded me of summat I read about black people and boot polish long ago

it was in the story of some famous bluesman, Albert Collins or someone. Anyway, he became an alcoholic from drinking alcohol filtered out of boot polish, which apparently was a very common way for poor blacks to get pissed up in the Mississippi delta.
Imagine being so desperate you'd filter boot polish.
Might bear that in mind just in case I run out of booze though
