The issue is our youth coaching. It's shocking. Bad habits taught from an early age.

Playing 11 a side on full size pitches too early. Parents shouting at the kids. Poor coaching.

"Get it in the mixer."

"Clear it."

"Get stuck in."

"You've got to want it more than them."

All things that I've heard shouted at kids that will hardly encourage good technique.

This has been known for years but nothing is ever done about it.

Having my two kids playing youth football has been a real eye opener. Well meaning but ill-educated and clueless coaching.

Until that changes we'll never be technically as good as players from other coutries.
