reminds me of a story a friend told me the other day about work litigation

These blokes were working in some kind of industrial plant and there was some very heavy metal structure in the way of their crane or something. So, instead of hanging around for ages waiting for someone with the right machinery to lift and move this thing, they decided to lift it together. even though they'd been told specifically not to do so.
They lifted it up, shuffled it over out of the way and got ready to let it go all together. Unfortunately one of the blokes was a bit late in letting go and it fell on his arms, severing them both at the elbow.

Despite the fact they'd all been warned not to move the thing and decided to anyway, the company looked after him, covered all his medical expenses, paid his wages while he wasn't working, and even paid for him to make a trip to visit a prosthetics expert in the US, where he was fitted with the latest prosthetic semi-robotic arms, and covered all his physiotherapy etc etc. After restarting his job at the plant and working for a couple of months with his new arms, he decided to take the company to court, sued them, won a large amount fo money and forced the firm out of business
