I find it puzzling that you can equate these two things, when they clearly are utterly

different.
She acted stupidly but bravelyin the heat of the moment, he weakly 'forces himself to accept" reiterated racial abuse. I see little connection here other than some tenuous "bravery" motif.
It would hardly require much bravery for Alves not to force himself to accept racial abuse
