Thats the whole point...........

The gap between the haves and the have nots is huge in these african nations.......

The poorest 30% in the US and UK still have a house to live in, food, heating, transportation, healthcare ect ect ect.

The point is corruption/control in certain govenments has made it possible for a huge wealth imbalance of the starving to those living in palaces as we see in most of africa and the middle east.

Power left unchecked corrupts really badly.

Bill Gates doesn't really have any more of the life essentials than the vast majority of people in the UK and the US.............

He has a house, he has food, he has heating, he has healthcare, he has transportation to move around freely........

Those are the key things, yes he has a bigger house but thats miles away from the person with no house and no food.........

Democracy has been proven to lift the living standard for the vast majority of people. (yes some do a lot better than others but its relative)

The right to have arms in the US is a part of the checks and balances imposed.

How would a corrupt US govenment put down legitimate protests if everyone is armed..........

Do you not see how relevent it has been as an overall deterent.

People miss the point/history of the Second Amendment.....

Wiki has areally good page which outlines the history and how relevent it is to English law........and what is happening today.
