A lot of HD TV is 720 anyway rather than fully 1080p. A lot of BlueRay HDDVDs are s**t Hollywood blockbusters or old classics that don't always benefit from the upscaling. Then again I got a top of the range Sony LCD to future proof (and because it was regarded as the best at the time for Standard Definition, which most TV still is)
