Sorry, I disagree.

If Clattenburg had whistled for the freekick, he would have been moaned at for not letting the game flow.

Gomes had the ball, so he played an advantage.

Had Gomes have punted the ball out of play, would it be expected to give him the freekick as he hadn't made the most of his advantage?

Gomes put the ball down, but didn't play it. The ball is in play though, so Nani had every right to go for it.

Clattenburg did right, Nani did right, Gomes cocked up.
