i think it was Phil Liggett that tweeted that the sprinters are begining to realise it's

not a sprinters' course at all, now that they can see it for themselves.

it'd be nice if Cav got it, and i think he's capable of doing smallish hills near the finish, and coping with a small team far better than he's often given credit for. However, he's just done the Vuelta (as well as already having the Tour in his legs) so i'd be suprised if that's not going to have taken it out of him somewhat. Also i read a tweet suggesting next year's course is going to be a proper sprinters course, so perhaps he'll not think he has to put everything into it this year.

haven't got the foggiest about any prize money or anything, though should think usual unwritten cycling rules will apply (share it round the team). i'd hope that national pride would have some effect, also a chance to be put in the shop-window at a time of many contract renewals (though not so important for Millar if he's in for Thomas? - though also not so important for Thomas - dunno about Hunt's contract situation)
