My overall view isn't that conclusive. I 100% agree with your summary though

Where to start analysing it. Early in the game I agreed with the Puyol, Van Persie and Van Bommel bookings. I thought maybe if the game was going to go that way, there's nothing anyone can do

Then came De Jong's awful smash, enough said, he should have gone

But then, second half, this is where, although I wanted Spain to win, they did a couple of things that could have been Hollands world cup, and mirrored the Brazil game

Iniesta, no matter how little it was, didn't like a tackle on him, and lashed out at the player when he didn't get the whistle. Webb evened up the De Jong thing instantly, by not even booking him. Anything could have happened in that moment, from a yellow to a straight red, and Iniesta was a lucky boy, and his face said it all "he thought he was going"

Then Robben one on one was being fouled the whole time, which is what he bleated about constantly for the rest of the game

By the end, I thought your last summary nailed it really. He dealt with incidents consistently, which largely meant he was in control of it all. Bommel got away with everything again, but so did others
