A thought. Maybe a crap one.

The stars should be secondary to the system rather than the other way around. Here is what I mean. Manager picks his style of play. THEN pick the best player for each position in that system. USA has Dempsey and Donovan playing outside even though they are stronger as central midfielders. Same with England with Gerrard outside. Trying to put your best 11 on the field doesn't necessarily ring true if it doesn't benefit the team as a whole.
