No no it's fairly typical.

It *IS* a hell of a lot cheaper to shop in Tescos and get it sent over, rather than go to Super U or Intermarche.

And it's the fault of the French :-

* They saw the invasion of the Brits who like home comforts.

* Realised there was a killing to be made (on the assumption that the Brits are as narrow-minded, xenophobic and shopping-unsavvy as the French) by hiking up the prices on custard and such other traditional English items.

*Fucked up badly as the Brits (who aren't as xenophobic about buying goods from a different country **) used their savvyness to simply buy the French alternatives.

*The French supermarkets hiked the prices up of the rest of the goods on offer.

*As the exchange rate fell, it simply made more sense for the Brits to order online (something almost unheard of France)

Honestly, they are at least 15 years behind the UK in their outlook on most things like that.

**Try telling a Frenchman that their food and wine isn't actually as good as they think it is, and that better can be found elsewhere in the world. A French supermarket will usually have about 4 wines from elsewhere in the world that isn't France.
