It's a tricky one

I agree that the likes of Michael Nelson, Korey Smith, Grant Holt even are not better players on their uppers. This is an achievement for them and a snooty attitude to what has been a remarkable success under the circumstances would be churlish. Additionally, the old regime has gone. I wouldn't be cheering THEM around norwich even if we'd had the league wrapped up in February.

But outpourings do require some special context. The only reason there was an open-top bus when we won the Ashes in 05 was because we hadn't won it in 18 years. An 80s England cricket team would think it the most absurd affair. And what about West Brom? Do they parade around Sandwell and Dudley every other year? I doubt it.

So while, the players deserve recognition, this is not a special achievement and there is no way we can replicate the celebrations of our Championship success. The Club and City need to do something though. Perhaps a City Hall reception and balcony trophy appearance would suffice.
