Well, this is gonna sound like cliches, but I think you're trying to do two things
really - celebrate someone's life, and give a sense of what they meant to you.
The latter may not be difficult - in my case it was someone very close to me so it wasn't hard to explain why I was mourning, and why I was talking.
Then I think as Otto said, you're trying to give a sense of what really defined that person - perhaps what they loved to do, what was most important to them, how they enriched the lives of those around them.
So I guess you ahve to start by thinking hard about thsoe sorts of questions, before you worry too much about the actual words.
Obviously this is one of the most personal things you'll do though. So not sure useful any of the above will be. Apologies if not much.
One thing though - bear in mind it'll be about the most supportive and encouraging audience you'll ever have.
