I think its easier to get away with if you can manage some semblance of 'proper' romance (i.e. done off your own back not because Clinton f**king cards tell you too) at other points in the year.

We've never 'done' Valentines day, although I did surprise her with a few days in Prague a few years back. That was more an xmas present though, and was to give me somewhere special to propose!
