problem being - if you dont even know how good the picture should be...

I buy a car 'to drive fast', but when I get it back home, I can't drive it 'as fast as I wanted to'. Your fault for not knowing what you're buying, your fault for not knowing what to expect.

If there is a problem with that particular unit, compared with other units of the same make and model, then yes _ I would agree.

Having said all this - he wont have a problem giving it back, provided he buys a replacement in there.
