I just think that no-one can blame him for wanting the job and trying his best to keep the

club he loves up. And gambling with his safe job for life and undoubted legend status.

However. When this failed he should of had the self awareness, because it was plainly obvious to everyone else apart from him and the board, that he was no good at managing a football club.

His (and the then boards) misguided beleif in himself to get us up against all accumulated evidence thus far was a massive mistake.

So to sum up. I blame firstly and mostly the then board for yet another howler (twice in Gunny's case) of managerial appointments, and secondly him for wanting the job after showing no ability or clue and taking us down.

I said to my mate who I sit next to after the 4-0 against Barnsley, when Gunny was caretaker, that it was in many ways the worst possible result for the club. And so it proved.

I still love Gunny for what he was a part of as a player, and always will. But he should have just gone away and kept his head down.
