That's so different. No excuses from the guy, no spin. I agree in part about 2000/1 - but our squad at the time was only good enough to be mid-table if properly managed. Judicious signings with money we didn't have were needed to push us on into contention.

A friend of mine works in the game, and met Delia and MWJ at Bobby Robson's memorial event a while back. He was utterly charmed by her - but the first thing she said to him was: "What does your job involve? Because we could do with some advice on how to run a football club".

Even THEY wouldn't defend the mess of the last few years in the way you're trying to, Jayson.
