You would be using BT's DNS server I would imagine.
Do you have a router with a firewall on it ? If so, check the settings on that - maybe it's blocking ports you need ?
Or check your network card settings on the workstations. Sometimes they are set lower than the card can actually handle and need to be manually changed to take advantage of higher speed
