there's absolutely no problem with doing that

you can download itunes off t' interweb, then just transfer your music to the new pc and then reload it into itunes in the normal way you add folders etc.
I've got 3 pcs synced with my ipod, and as i didn't get any software with mine, that's how I've always done it and it works perfectly.
Only problem is the song info and playlists you have saved in itunes. That info is saved on the ipod, so I guess there's a way you can reload it on the new itunes library, but I don't know how! As long as you set up the new itunes to sync manually, you'll at least be able to stop it overwriting until you find out how
