Took a bit of finding

Do us a favour please?

Naturally there are regular references on here to towns and areas of Norfolk - but they all sail over my head and I'm missing out.

Someone explain what's what in the county please? I'll do North Wales for anyone who's interested.

Starting from Rhyl and moving clockwise:

Rhyl is Yarmouth. Prestatyn is basically the same - it used to think itself a lot better but since the jobs moved out ten years ago it's now dead and dying, with 2nd hand washing machine shops on the High Street.

Moving east down the coast, we meet more and more placcy scousers and it's still mainly dog rough, though the improvements to the lamentably unreliable A55 have increased the number of 'select' areas. Flint is a good place to seek a mix of modern and traditional violence. That's a place you can get your car robbed from your works car park.

Wrexham is my least favourite place in the world, from my limited experience. Even the locals admit that they're hostile and aggressive. One of my mates drives a lorry there weekly, and denied they're that bad, citing one place that he gets a quick tip, often being pulled around waiting drivers - and then he remembered that they did this for him *to piss everybody else off* (true). South of Wrexham you're in the sort of territory where people stop and stare at cars. Heading west through Llangollen and Bala people are generally nice and it's damn pretty in places. Over to the coast at Barmouth and up to Portmadoc it's pleasant and friendly.

Blaenau has its own weather system. They have more dark days than an Icelandic winter: some people under twelve have never seen the sun, but the people are excellent.

Pwllheli and Abersoch are fine, too. but from there, round the 'cape' and all the way west to Conway you're in serious Taff Territory and will again be stared at until you do the decent thing and bugger off.

Conway to Colwyn Bay are similar but populous enough to make you feel almost human, though they will speak welsh in front of you on purpose now and then. Personally I don't mind this but I know it pisses a lot of people off. Oh - and you'll still see youngish people wearing cutoff denim jackets with QUO on the back in Colwyn Bay. They're handed down, I promise.

I left out Anglesey. The Appallachians, if you like. You know those films where people get stranded in small town America and weird things occur and they get scared and run to the cops, but the sheriff's in on it, and they end up tied to a stake on a hilltop while the Mayor's wife cavorts naked, rubbing chicken blood on her tits? The further west you go in Anglesey, the more inevitable that is to happen to you. There's one beach there, though, that has to be visited, trust me. Just don't break down as the light starts to fade.

Go on then - someone do Norfolk....... much obliged and ta in advance..........
