"much conventional thought starts at the margin of society and becomes mainstream over tim

e. That can be the same with medicine."

absolutley agree with that, that's when medicine stops being alternative and becomes medicine, that's when it has proper evidence to back up its claims to work and not simple anecdotal evidence which is what you're going on.

i'll take you back to my whiskey example - i know i feel a little better after drinking a hot toddy, however, i fully accept that it is not speeding up the killing of the cold virus

perhaps arnica does work, i'd never heard of it before today, i quick google seems to tell me there is a homeopathic version, that one i'd be prepared to say is bollocks simply based on it having the homeopathic label attached, as for any other, well if it works it'll become proper medicine, same as asprin came from willow bark and penicillin from fungus.

and i'm not dismissing homeopathy due to a failure to understand it, i'm dismissing it because it has been proven time and again to be no better than a placebo.

just because something is at the margins of rational thought it does not automtically follow that it deserves even that slight amount of room, let that it will one day become mainstream.
