RE gow and left wing. That was forced for me, as what otehr option did he have?

Lappin? Not exactly creative, Neither is Matty P (putting aside the fall out).
Gow was the closest we had to Wes, and was the most likely to be able to go out there and do what wes had been doing.
Getting on the ball, making himself some space, and then looking for the movement upfront.
Problem was, without Gow upfront, that movement diminished significantly.
